Top 6 Fermentation Tools and Gadgets for the Home Enthusiast

You really don’t need much more than fresh vegetables, salt, water and a mason jar for most home fermentations. But, who doesn’t love to get a little fancy with it? I’ve sourced some of my all time favorite and go-to fermentation kitchen tools and gadgets for your convenience. Don’t forget to check out our recipes page for some fermentation inspiration. Happy fermenting!

1. All in One Wine Pump

All in One Wine Pump

If you make wine, beer, cider, mead or vinegar at home, this is an investment worth making. As the name suggests, this “All in One Wine Pump” can help rack, filter and bottle your favorite fermented liquids. This is such a time saver and helps the finished product come out cleaner, clearer and with less sediment.

2. Kombucha Kit to Get Started

Want to get started making your very own home brew kombucha? You’re going to need a kombucha SCOBY, and I recommend you get that from The Kombucha Shop. Their all-inclusive Kombucha Brewing Kit provides you everything you will need for your first batch and more. Check out our recipe for single batch kombucha.

3. Continuous Brew Kombucha

Ok, so you’re ready to upgrade your kombucha game. I recommend this 2 gallon Glass Continuous Kombucha Container with Stainless Steel Spigot. You’ll be brewing kombucha like a champ! This also makes a really nice beverage serving vessel for parties. Need instructions on how to continuous brew kombucha? Check out our recipe.

4. Year of Plenty Fermentation Weights

Fermentation weights are super important for vegetable lacto-fermentation like kimchi or sauerkraut. The weights keep the fermenting food below the brine, so no oxygen-loving microbes can spoil the fermentation. These particular fermentation weights are great because they have handles to grip on. Very handy!

5. Mason Jar Waterless Airlock

These awesome little dudes help keep oxygen out, while allowing the release of carbon dioxide that is naturally produced during fermentation. These waterless airlocks fit on any mason jar, making them super convenient.

6. The Catalyst Fermentation System – 6.5 Gallon Plastic Conical Fermenter

Ok, now this is really for the big boys (I mean the serious home brewing or home fermenting enthusiasts). This 6.5 Gallon Conical Fermenter separates sediment, eliminates transfers and allows you to bottle straight from your fermenter. Pair with the “All in One Wine Pump” for a seriously efficient home brew and home fermentation station.

I personally use all of these items and swear by them all. However as an Amazon Associate, this post may contain affiliate links.
